Wedding Cruise

“Sydney Harbour is the most romantic wedding venue in the world” said a Bride who travelled all the way from England, just to be married in front of the Opera House aboard the luxury sailing yacht “Sydney Sundancer”. Proud owners, Lynne & John Boyce enjoy an enviable reputation having won the prestigious Australian Bridal Industry Academy (ABIA) award for the Best Wedding Reception Vessel on Sydney Harbour every year from 2003 to 2007. In 2008 they won the ABIA award for Best Wedding Reception Vessel in Australia (which was judged over 3 years) AND they were inducted into the ABIA “Hall of Fame” making them one of only 6 wedding suppliers in the whole of Australia to be so honoured! "Sydney Sundancer" is a Motor Sailer. John & Lynne chose this class of vessel carefully so that they could combine the comfort & stability of a motor boat with the grace and serenity of a sailing yacht and incorporates a huge deck area that is just made for entertaining and the experience of Sydney Harbour. In fact, the deck is so large that “Sydney Sundancer” is licensed to carry more than 70 guests (plus crew) however, Lynne and John prefer to limit the number of guests to around 50, so that everyone’s personal comfort is ensured, through adequate space.

With all outdoor activities and weddings in particular, the weather is a prime consideration so when John & Lynne were designing their yacht, they incorporated a special canopy system that extends virtually the whole length of the yacht. If the weather happens to turn on you, the full canopy and enclosable aft deck keeps the party going, in comfort and in style.

When the wedding ceremony is conducted aboard, you have the option of either conducting the service near the Sydney Opera House or in a secluded tree lined bay with a lovely white sandy beach. If the ceremony is conducted in front of one of the world’s most famous buildings, John will manoeuvre "Sydney Sundancer" so that the two giant arches of the Sydney Opera House form a massive "Cathedral" behind the Bride and Groom. In the natural setting of a tree lined bay, the only sounds heard are the waves gently lapping on the beach (and the words of the ceremony, of course). All guests have a clear view and can really feel part of the ceremony. Our unique service includes FREE wedding photographs taken during the harbour cruise. These images will be forwarded to you on a disc to remind you of your special day.

So many families have found "relief" when their special occasion is over, rather than taking pleasure in the joy of their loved ones, that Lynne and John have introduced a "one stop package" where they take the burden from your shoulders leaving all the arrangements in their capable hands. They act as the co-ordinators "pulling together and tying up all the loose strings" of this special day so that the Bride and Groom and their families can enjoy the lead-up to the wedding.

We also offer a unique wedding package which includes optional overnight accommodation and champagne breakfast, served aboard the following morning.

"In 2006, we used the yacht Sydney Sundancer for our wedding service and reception and found the care and attention to detail shown by the operators, Lynne and John Boyce, to be utterly exemplary.

Organising a wedding from the other side of the world, in our case, England, could be fraught with problems, stress and communication hassles due to time differences and the lack of face to face contact. Our experience with Lynne and John was a perfect example of how modern communication can be used to perfection by a company that wishes to provide faultless customer service.

Using email and telephone contact, Luxury Yachting took care of everything. The service we received from day one was professional, speedy and efficient – questions were answered in double quick time, suggestions were made, and the event planning could not have been better!

Even when I threw a spanner in the works at the last minute (a secret booking for extra people that the bride knew nothing about!) Lynne and John sprang into action. Nothing was too much trouble and the food served to us on the boat was amongst the finest we have eaten anywhere in the world – this includes restaurants where the bill lands on the table with a thump! In short we enjoyed a day that we will never forget.

Our wedding day ran like clockwork from the moment John helped us on board and Lynne greeted us with a glass of champagne, to the time we sailed back to port, with the sun setting over Sydney. When organising an event like a wedding, you expect to come out of the other side with at least a few ideas about how you might have done it differently.

With the day we enjoyed on Sydney Sundancer, we can’t think of a single thing we’d have changed."
